You must be living outside Australia and be engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and you wish to marry your fiancé in Australia.
A Prospective Marriage visa is a temporary visa that remains valid for 9 months from the date it is granted. If you are granted a Prospective Marriage visa, you must enter Australia and then marry your sponsor within the validity period of the visa. You may then apply for a Spouse visa in Australia.
Important: If you are granted the Prospective Marriage visa and then marry your fiancé(e) before having entered Australia on that visa, your visa will be liable for cancellation.
