You cannot work or study in Australia without a student or working holiday visa. Please leave enough time to book your visa and don't book your flights before this is organised.

Travel Insurance
If you are planning on spending up to a year in Australia you will need the appropriate travel insurance to cover both you and your belongings. Whatever you do, do not leave home without having adequate working holiday/student travel insurance for the year.

Australian Bank Account
You will need an Australian bank account organised for you before you go. Using your local bank card may only work in some bank machines and using debit or credit cards from home are expensive. Book your bank account before departure. You will be able to transfer money over before leaving home and also have an account to show an employer so that you can start working.

Australian Flights
Visa First can book open ended flights for you with airport pickup on arrival. It's important to have open tickets because your departure dates will change and this way you will have that flexibility and wont have to worry about buying new flights when you're out in Australia.

Australian Tax File Number
You will need an Australian tax file number in order to work in Australia. Otherwise you wont be able to work or if you are accepted for work you will pay tax at the emergency rate of 48%

Work Courses
You cannot work in any job that involves serving alcohol, i,e bar, waiter jobs until you have completed the 1 day RSA course. You cannot work in construction until you have completed the 1 day green card construction course.
