To be eligible under the business skills category in Australia you need to meet the following basic requirements:

• Age: You must be less than 55 years old (except where the regional authority considers that the proposed business will be of exceptional economic benefit to the region).
• Business Success: You must have an overall successful business career.
• Work experience: You must provide evidence of recent work experience in 3 high-level senior management positions of a major business in which you were responsible for strategic policy development affecting a major component or a wide range of operations of that major business;
• Significant assets: Your (and your spouse's combined) total assets have a net value of at least AU$250,000 and were legally acquired and are capable of being transferred to Australia within two years of being granted this visa.
• Additional assets: You have sufficient assets (additional to those above) to settle in Australia.
• Acceptable business record: You (or your spouse) have never been involved in unacceptable business activities.
• Committed to business in Australia: You must have a commitment to maintain an ownership interest in a business in Australia and have direct and continuous involvement in management of that business.
• Need to live in Australia: You demonstrate there is a need to live in Australia on a temporary basis for business reasons.
• Health: You must meet health requirements to enter Australia.
• Character: You must be of good character to enter Australia.

You will need to send certified copies (originals are not required) of the following documents:

• Passport: Certified copy of the personal details pages of the passports of all persons included on the application;
• Fully completed Australia visa application form;
• Photographs: Four (4) recent passport-sized photographs of each person included in the application. All photographs should be of head and shoulders against a plain background. Please print the name of each applicant at the back of each photograph;
• Certified copy of a marriage certificate (if you have been or are currently married);
• Certified copy of change of name if anyone on the application has changed his or her name;
• Certified copies of birth certificates showing the names of all persons included on the application;
• Certified copies of documents to verify custody for all children less than 18 years of age unless both parents are included in the application;
• Certified copies of adoption if an adopted child is included on the application;
• Certified copies of military service if you have served in the armed forces.
