Under the original Tier-1 category you only gain points if you are under 34 years old but if you are applying for an extension, the available points for age differ depending on whether your previous grant of leave was under Tier 1 (General) or the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).

If you do wish to travel outside the UK whilst your application is still being processed then your application will need to be withdrawn. In these circumstances your documents and passport will be returned to you. You will not receive a refund. If you still wish to pursue your application a new application will have to be made at a later date, and it will include a new fee.

No, the minimum requirement for Indefinite Leave to Remain is now 5 years. You should apply for Further Leave to Remain, which is normally granted for 3 years. You can then apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain as soon as you reach the 5-year qualifying period.
