Tier-1 Extension

If you have already been in the UK for three years on a UK Tier-1 Skilled Visa or a UK Highly Skilled Migrant Visa and want to extend your stay, you may be eligible to apply for an extension.

Usually, Tier-1 Visa extensions are given for an additional 2 years, after which you may be able to apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

To be eligible for an extension of your UK Tier-1 Visa you will need to score 95 points under the points-based system similar to that used in your original UK Skilled Migrant Visa (Tier 1) application. For the education component, the points system is the same as for the original application but for age, the points are different to reflect the time elapsed since your original application. Previous earnings will be considered as well, based on the length of time the original visa was granted for.

You will also need to demonstrate proficiency in the English Language by providing either an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score at above band six, or documentary evidence of a Bachelor Degree taught in English.
