What is a work permit?
A work permit is an employment permit issued to an employee allowing a non-eu citizen to work legally in Ireland for an employer in an occupation specified in the work permit. It is issued for 2 years, can be renewed for a further 3 years at which stage the work permit can be renewed indefinitely.


How long does it take to organise?
It takes 6-8 weeks however our team has organised them in just 3-4 weeks.


Does the candidate need to be earning a minimum salary in order to be eligible to a work permit?
Generally the employee must be earning a basic salary of €30,000 or more.


What are the conditions of the work permit?
You must prove that you cannot find a suitable candidate from the EU to fill this vacancy.

This is done by advertising the role with Fas and in a national newspaper for at least three days.

Visa First will do this on your behalf once we have the job specification.

We will include this evidence in your application.


What skills/qualifications must the candidate possess?
We must be able to demonstrate that he/she has relevant skills, experience or qualifications. This is generally done by showing references from previous employers or evidenced qualifications.


Does the employer need to be a registered Irish company trading in Ireland?
Can the candidates spouse legally work in Ireland?
Yes, we can process this along with their application.


Do they need an entry visa?
If they are outside Ireland they may need to apply for an entry visa from their local embassy (depending on their nationality), once they work permit has been processed.


What else do they need to do when they arrive?
They must register in the Garda registration office in Burgh Quay, Dublin if they will live in Dublin. If outside Dublin with the Gards superintendent in that district.
