According to a recent new opinion research, Australia is the top choice for British immigrants. Around 21% of the people say that OZ is their first choice followed United States of America at 18%, Canada at 14% and Spain at 10%. Spain is the only country in the ranking whose language is not English; however prospective immigrants recognize the need to learn foreign languages and they have enough time to immerse themselves in the foreign culture, because the average stay abroad for UK immigrants is around 7 years. Furthermore the survey shows that the nearly 25% of the total population has at some point considered immigration as an option. The better quality of life is the main motivation behind the decision to immigrate followed by experiencing new culture and adventure, while missing of the family and friends is one of the most significant deterrents to going abroad.
