The Government of Russia is considering turning the capital Moscow into a visa free city. According to the plan all foreign visitors will be allowed to spend three days in Moscow without the need to apply for a visa. Under the current visa rules all foreigners who want to come to Russia are required to pass through a complex visa procedure. The Russian Duma will vote the new bill during the autumn. The new changes will stimulate the promotion of various cultural events such as opera and ballet festivals. Supporters of the visa-free plan estimate that it will generate profits of around 120 billion rubles for the budget of the city of Moscow, which will be beneficial for a lot of local businesses. The present visa regime is detrimental to the development of the Russian tourism. The implementation of the new initiative will be an excellent Public Relations move for Russia.
