Australia occupies top places at Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards 2012
Australia has occupied first places in several categories at the annual Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards 2012.
The awards are based on the travel experiences which the readers of Travel and Leisure had when travelling around the world.
They are revealing the best cities, hotels, sightseeing, island and resorts worldwide. Australia had very impressive rankings winning eight of the top ten places in best hotel category in the South Pacific region.
Sydney won the first place in Australia and the whole South Asia Pacific region overall.
The best hotel in Australia was, however, the Southern Pacific Lodge on Kangaroo Island. It allows the tourist to experience the unique wilderness and the rich wildlife which the island offers.
In addition to the high places that Sydney and the Kangaroo Island occupied, the Great Barrier Reef was another Australian destination, which received top rankings.
It was ranked among the top ten islands in the world and first in n Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
The 5-star Langham Hotel in Melbourne won the best city hotel in an award for the region of South Asia Pacific. It is famous for its dining experiences with are said to be the best in Australia.
The government agency Tourism Australia, which is responsible for the international promotion of the Australian tourism, announced that it will use the high rankings of the country at the Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards in the second stage of their global marketing campaign.
Furthermore, Tourism Australia will also release a tablet app which will help people, who want to visit Australian to plan their trip better.
The app will give the tourist the opportunity to choose their destination based on the experiences of the reviewers, which participated in the ranking of the Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards.
