New South Wales expands its Skilled Occupations List
A great opportunity has emerged for skilled foreign professionals to immigration to New South Wales – the most populous state in Australia.
New South Wales has announced that it will expand its Skilled Occupations List allowing people from various trades to apply for a visa which gives them the right to practice their profession in the state.
The number of job advertisements there is 3 – 4 times higher than other states. Furthermore, the salaries are on average 10%-15% higher than those in other states and the unemployment rate is relatively lower in comparison with the rest of the country.
Last but not least the quality of life in New South Wales is considered to be very high. The climate is subtropical and not as hot as it furthers north the country.
Initially, the Skilled Occupations List of New South Wales was very short, due to the fact that the state is one of the most popular destinations for immigrants.
On 15 October 2012, there were a lot of new professions added as a result of which the total number exceeded one hundred. Some of the new occupations on the list include:
IT workers (various)
Medical practitioners (various)
According to the new immigration rules, people who want to immigrate to Australia must first submit Expression of Interest through the online service Skill Select.
The Australian States then will nominate those candidates who have skills that are required according to the Australian Skilled Occupations List.
Only after being nominated applicants will be able to apply for a visa to Australian provided that they meet all the additional prerequisites.
