New Skilled Occupations List will be published for Western Australia

Western Australia which is one of the most popular provinces among immigrants is currently reviewing its skilled occupations list. The new list is expected to be published in October. Local Government stresses that the old list will be still valid for at least 15 days after the new one is published. The Department of Training and Workforce Development said it hopes to release the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) for 2013/2014 soon. The list is important because to be invited to apply for State nomination you need an occupation on the current WASMOL. The Government also reminds to all potential Australian visa applicants that there are changes in State sponsorship process and Skilled Migration Western Australia at the Department of Training and Workforce Development no longer accepts direct applications for State sponsorship. All applicants that are eligible will need to apply through the new Skill Select System. This means that they will need to submit Expression of Interest. After that all applications will be lodged in the Skill Select Database. From there successful applicants will be selected by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship and will be invited to interview. In addition to that there will be a new visa programme for people who want to work in the rural areas. It will be promoted under the name Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187). The new regional visa will have three streams. The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for subclass 457 visa holders who have worked for two years and they want to remain permanently in the country; the Direct Entry stream for people who never worked in Australia and want to come in the country for first time and the Agreements stream is for people sponsored by an employer through a labour or regional migration
